Roberto Masotti
Roberto Masotti was born in Ravenna in 1947.
Studies of industrial design. Works as freelance photographer since 1971.
His best known work "You turned the tables on me" (115 portraits of contemporary musicians, 1974-1981) has been shown at exhibitions in Berlin, London, Munich, Milan, Genova,Torino and many other italian cities.This work is now part of the cumulative "Musical Works"; it took almost ten years to create a large number of variegate, mesmeric, much evocative intermedia pieces until he conceived " The turn of the table", commissioned by Rumori Mediterranei festival in Roccella, staged in 1997 with music, dance, images.
After this experience he has been working on a stage production wit the Mediana group for Jazzn'it in Vignola. Both work feature consistent video parts.
In 1984 he compiles a hundred of photos of John Cage for the exhibition "Photographs Cage" in Torino.
He has been official photographer to Teatro alla Scala from 1979 to 1996 and collaborates with ECM Records since 1973.
He recently has been working on the series of pictures called "Naturae Sequentia Mirabilis", where parts have been shown at Badenweiler and Arte Sella where he has held a workshop "Method of natural improvisation" with musicians like E. Parker, W. Prati, P. Lytton and G. Mazzon.
Diario dal Sud (Diary of the South), commissioned by Noci´s ´Europe Jazz festival´, will be shown for the first time in Berlin.
